Nutrition: The Importance



First of all, let’s define first what is the word nutrition for you to have a better understanding of why is it important in your life. As biochemistry, genetics advance, and molecular biology, Nutrition has more focused on metabolic pathways and metabolism. It talks about the study of food nutrients, on how your body intake nutrients and a relationship between health, diet, and diseases.

Similarly, it also involves knowing how certain conditions and diseases that may cause by a dietary factor, such as food intolerances, malnutrition (poor diet) or food allergies.

All major manufacturer of foods must employ food scientist and nutritionist to ensure the safety of manufacturing foods. A nutritionist should work in education, research, and journalism. A lot of nutritionist works in a field of technology and food science.


The time you eat a variety of foods each day will affect your health condition- how your feeling today and tomorrow.

Good nutrition is a very important factor in leading a healthy lifestyle. Doing physical activities can help you also to maintain and reach you’re a healthy weight, reduce or prevent chronic diseases such as cancer and heart diseases.


Eating unhealthy foods make your body to obesity. 1/3 of adults in the U.S (33.8%) and 17% (12.5 million) of kids and 19 years old youths are obese. One causes of illness and death is a poor diet even you are a healthy weight. These include hypertension, heart diseases, diabetes, cancer, and osteoporosis. By eating smart and healthy foods, you can prevent and help yourself from this different type of health problems.

The risk reason for chronic diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension, are commonly seen in adults or in younger ages, often a result in eating unhealthy foods and unhealthy diet lifestyle. Dietary habits commonly established into your childhood up to adulthood, so don’t forget to teach the children how and what they must eat so that at their young age you may help them to become healthier.

By eating healthy foods and doing physical activities, these two steps may help your body become healthier, avoid or prevent health problems and conditions, active, and stronger.

Healthy eating keys are the following:

1. Limit sugar, salt, saturated fat, Trans and alcohol in a diet.

2.  Eat poultry, lean meats, beans, fish or seafood, and low fats products.

3. Drink a lot of water instead of any sugar drinks.

4. Eat a kind of foods, such as fruits, whole-grain, and vegetable products.

The mentioned above are the keys to healthy eating to prevent and reduce health problems and conditions. These can help you a lot to become more nutritious.


Autotrophic and heterotrophic are two types of nutrition.


Certain bacteria and green plants (organic substances) can make their food from H2O and CO2 (inorganic substances) using energy that comes from sunlight.


This mode, the foods inorganic and organic substances will get by feeding the other organism.

  • Holozoic: the organisms consume the foods to the body, absorb and digest it the soluble product of digestion, ex. Humans.
  • Saprotrophic:  the organism keeps the digestive enzymes into extinct organic materials. e.g. certain fungi and bacteria.
  • Parasitic: this mode, foods came from a living organism by living inside their bodies. e.g certain roundworm, bacteria, Cuscuta, tapeworm, etc.


Health is one of the most important in our life. It is important to have discipline in eating especially if it is unhealthy foods for you to prevent health conditions like hypertension, heart diseases, diabetes, cancer, and osteoporosis and others.
